My Story

My family history of Type 2 Diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure inspired my decision to become a dietitian. My mother's successful Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB), resulting in remission of Type 2 diabetes, has motivated and guided me in my work as a dietitian. In recent years, I have been frustrated by the lack of consistent, credible, and accessible care for mid-life women, generally defined as between 40-65 years old, who are struggling with hormone related concerns. I decided I wanted to learn as much as possible and recently earned the Menopause Society Certified Practitioner credential.

During my 26-year career with a large HMO, I specialized in diabetes, weight management, heart disease, and other chronic conditions. I spent 8 years working with a multidisciplinary team in the Department of Bariatrics providing pre and post-op metabolic and bariatric surgery nutrition care. This program performed between 400-600 surgeries per year and I became passionate about helping post-op patients with common concerns, such as, weight regain and reactive hypoglycemia.

I obtained certification as a diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES) in 2007, enabling me to offer personalized care and support to those with diabetes. Additionally, I became a board-certified specialist in obesity and weight management (CSOWM), enhancing my ability to guide individuals towards healthier and sustainable lifestyles.

I live in Eagle, Idaho with my husband Phil, and our playful golden-doodle, Kip.
